Go Stargazing has been created by a group of amateur astronomers all of whom are experienced in running stargazing events and keen to help promote Astronomy to as wide an audience as possible.

The team

The team includes two former volunteers of Kielder Observatory, Neill Sanders and Wil Cheung, who between them assisted with over 500 public stargazing events at the observatory and whose efforts, alongside numerous other volunteers, helped lay the foundations for the success that the observatory enjoys today.

Also on the team is Robert Ince, a well-known amateur astronomer and professional scientist. Robert is the former resident astronomer & manager of the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park and is currently working with the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Forestry Commission to develop astronomy tourism, provide astronomy outreach events and to increase light pollution awareness all over the North of England.

Richard Darn is an experienced “Dark Skies” consultant who helped Northumberland National Park achieve their Dark Sky Park status and who advises on astronomy tourism to numerous businesses and organisations.

Our objective

We want to encourage people to get out there and go stargazing! To do this we aim to help people find amazing stargazing locations and awesome stargazing events whilst supporting event co-ordinators such as astronomical societies and observatories in promoting their events to the wider public. We are a not-for-profit organisation.
